This town used to be a little village next to Cesme, a popular resort town near Izmir. Our good friends Mete and Nadire Durdag made the smart decision to buy an old Greek house in this village and renovated it to use as a vacation house. Over the years many others did the same and this small village turned into a popular tourist destination, with small restaurants, cafes, houses-turned-into hotels, etc. People like the quaint setting Alacati represents–especially the newlyweds. The Durdag house being in a central location, many a newlywed couple stop in its front for photos. As Alacati is also known as the windsurfing capital of Turkey its population soars during the summer months.
We have been going to Alacati to visit the Durdags since they finished their house. More recently they acquired a small olive orchard close to Alacati. Some of the photos in the following gallery are from this orchard and the village nearby.
